The battery on this one dies after about 20 minutes of being on the phone or a couple of hours off the charger. I had to go out and get a different one.
Please, don't make the same mistake I did. I should have known - I have never had a good experience with any Philips product.
Would have given it zero stars if I could (I tried, actually). I am so disappointed.
Go with VTech, always reliable and cheaper. Do not waste your money.
I fully charged it for 24 hours before first use.
As soon as I pressed "speakerphone" the screen went blank and that was that.I had to revert to my old Panasonic that we could leave lying on the coffee table for several days without it losing its charge. We're in the market for new 'phones. I was just talking to my daughter for about 5 minutes when the 'phone died--battery gone. If it wasn't for the battery issues we'd be more than happy with this 'phone system. We're tired of the Philips. To be fair, the 'phone had been sitting on the coffee table, out of the charger, for at least 3 hours. So I picked up another handset that's been on the charger for DAYS.
Most of the "flaws" that others complain about are not even issues if you learn how to use the product correctly. The phone works great. If you read the user manual and learn how to use all the functionality, the phone is as good as anything you can buy at that price ($54).
You never know which handset is going to work so it keeps you in pretty good shape and on your toes. The screen is easy to read when the backlight is off but when that bright blue back light comes on, it washes out the screen. Good Stuff: nice styling, adaptable, excellent sound qualityBad Stuff: When the phone rings, some of the handsets go completely blank and you can't pick up the call.
A typical 10-minutes call will take the battery down one bar. In summary, its a cool phone system with great features but its like they just invented it and threw it out on the Walmart shelves without testing it. If you you use the phone for business, you better have all 4 handsets in front of you so you can keep switching phones that may have some charge left in them.
There are a few good features of this phone but the bad far outweight the good. There are 3 bars on the battery indicator. I am very disapointed in Philips.
This causes you to have to run to another room with a working handset to pick up the call. Also, I agree with all the other reviewers that the battery life stinks.
I plan to expand the system by buying additional handsets. I was pleased with the low price and how quickly I received the Philips CD4402B/37 High Def Voice Cordless Phone I ordered from Amazon.com. I use the phones daily and am very pleased with the voice quality, the speakerphone and all the features of the phone.
